Travel to Peru with the best group and family-friendly tour plans

Peru is the land of the ancient Incas, an incredible civilization that learned to conquer its rugged geography and coexist in harmony with the rivers, sun, rain, sea, Amazon, mountains, and the cold dryness of the Andes. They adapted to their environment and survived thanks to the bountiful gifts of Pachamama.

Some of that ancient society still lives on in each town, evident in the customs of the people.

Experience tourism in Peru and discover diverse worlds with unique landscapes, sounds, colors, and flavors. Travel through time and experience millenarian civilizations that share their rich cultural heritage. Enjoy countless cities, destinations, and experiences that can only be fully understood once lived in person.

If you decide to visit Peru on vacation and have time to explore the highlights of many of these special regions, there are several Inca Trail Machu tour packages that will take you to remote areas of the Amazon jungle, stunning coastal regions, the mystical desert areas of the Nazca Lines and Ica, and the magnificent Andes Mountains, where you can enjoy spectacular treks such as the Classic Inca Trail, the Lares Valley, or the Salkantay Trek, not to mention Machu Picchu. The Colca Canyon is home to rare bird inhabitants—the condors—and is the deepest canyon in the world. Arequipa, a modern southern city, is near Colca Canyon and home to the famous active volcano, Misti. Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world, is another must-see. Take a boat to the fascinating island communities of Taquile, Uros, and Amantani.

Peru is a country of vast diversity in climate, landscapes, and cultures. It has high glacier areas, Andean mountains, lush valleys, beautiful coastal regions, amazing desert landscapes, and, of course, the vast Amazon jungle.

The Classic Inca Trail Packages

Trekkers normally take 4 day hike to "Classic Inca Trail". It starts from one of two points: 88 km (55 miles) or 82 km (51 miles) from Cusco on the Urubamba River at approximately 2,800 metres (9,200 ft) or 2,600 metres (8,500 ft) altitude, respectively.

Both of these trail segments meet above the Inca ruins of Patallaqta (sometimes called Llaqtapata), a site used for religious and ceremonial functions, crop production, and housing for soldiers from the nearby hilltop site of Willkaraqay, an ancient pre-Inca site first inhabited around 500 BC. The trail undulates, but overall ascends along the Kusichaka River. At the small village Wayllapampa ("grassy plain", Wayllabamba) the trail intersects with the "Mollepata Trail" at 3,000 metres (9,800 ft).

Small, permanent settlements are located adjacent to the trail, and Wayllapampa has approximately 400 inhabitants (130 families) spread along this portion of the trail. Pack animals—horses, mules, donkeys, and llamas—are allowed.

At Wayllapampa the trail to Machu Picchu turns west and begins ascending along a tributary of the Kusichaka. Because of previous damage caused by hooves, pack animals are not allowed on the remainder of the trail.

As the trail ascends toward Warmi Wañusqa, or "Dead Woman's Pass",it passes through differing habitats, one of which is a cloud forest containing Polylepis trees. The campsite at Llulluch'apampa (Llulluchapampa) is located on this stretch of trail at 3,800 metres (12,500 ft). The pass itself is located at 4,215 m (13,829 ft) above sea level, and is the highest point on the Classic Inca Trail. After crossing the pass the trail drops steeply into the Pakaymayu drainage. At a distance of 2.1km and 600m below the pass is the campground Pakaymayu.

The Inca Trail is the most famous trekking route to Machu Picchu, therefore, we recommend you make your Inca Trail book 2026 early.

If you do not have a lot of time or are a person with little physical resistance, you can choose the Short Inca Trail Tour, this alternative route only lasts 2 days and 1 night

Great Itinerary to Peru & Inca Trail Packages

If this will be your first trip to Peru, Cusco and Machu Picchu are practically obligatory. The question is "what else?", and the answer depends on how much time you have, and what your interests are.

You can combine Machu Picchu with a number of other Andean attractions, the Amazon rain forest, or pre-Inca archaelogical sites on the coast. If this is not your first trip to Peru, the last itineraries in this section offer you something little different.
