The Machu Picchu tours from Lima begin as our transfer picks you up from your hotel in Lima. Our driver will take you to the international airport Jorge Chavez for a flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, our driver and Inca Trail Machu representative will be waiting at the airport and will transfer you to the train station in Cusco. From there, you will take a bus from Cusco to Ollantaytambo (1 hour and 40 minutes). After boarding the train, you'll enjoy a scenic 1 hour and 45 minutes journey through diverse landscapes, passing lush fields and vibrant villages nestled in the foothills of the Andes. The route offers breathtaking views of the mountains and the magnificent Urubamba River flowing through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Upon reaching Aguas Calientes, a town below Machu Picchu, our representative will greet you at the railway station and guide you to your hotel.
The first day does not include a tour activity. You will arrive in Aguas Calientes according to our guides' suggestions. Instead, you'll settle into your hotel, and the remainder of the day is free. You can explore the thermal baths (hot springs) and the charming surroundings of Aguas Calientes. If you want to do a short hike, you can add extra activities (at additional cost), such as visiting the Butterfly Museum and Machu Picchu Museum, or engage in other activities in town, such as a walk to Mandor Waterfall or a rock carving tour.
Important Note:

On the second day of the Machu Picchu tour from Lima, an early wake-up precedes your transfer to the bus station. There, you board a shuttle bus for a 25-minute journey along a zigzag path to the archaeological complex of Machu Picchu.
Upon arrival, you will present your original document, and the park ranger will verify your personal information before you enter the Inca citadel. According to your booked circuit, you will enter and explore the citadel. If you book circuit 2 or 1, you will enter through the main entrance and walk to the citadel for about five minutes. Then the route divides, and the park ranger will check your tickets again and direct you to your designated circuit. If you book circuit 3, you will enter through the lower entrance and walk down to the Inca citadel to explore the lower section.
If you book circuit 2 for Machu Picchu, you will explore the citadel and visit the Guardian House first, where you will hike up for 10 minutes. From there, you will have panoramic views of Machu Picchu. Then continue down to the Machu Picchu entrance, the Inca Quarry, the main square (where the three windows are located), the Sun Temple, the Royal Rooms, and the Llaqta of the citadel, and you will exit through the circuit 3 entrance. This guided tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours. If you want to discover more of the Inca citadel, you can book Huayna Picchu Mountain or other attractions according to the circuits Machu Picchu offers.
If you book Huayna Picchu, we recommend you first explore circuit 3 of Machu Picchu and then continue to climb Huayna Picchu Mountain for breathtaking panoramic photos (this option requires you to purchase a separate ticket and book in advance).
After exploring the site, take a shuttle bus back to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) at one of the many restaurants offering traditional Andean and international cuisine.
In the afternoon, board a train back to Ollantaytambo, where our driver awaits you in front of the railway station to transfer you to Cusco. Finally, our driver will drop you off at the airport, where you will take your return flight to Lima. Upon arrival, our driver will be waiting with your name sign and will transfer you to your hotel in Lima. This concludes your 2-day Machu Picchu tour from Lima.
